A Theme Makes Wedding Shower Decorations So Much Easier to Plan

While there is no spoken rule about wedding shower decorations, things would be so much easier on you if you chose a theme for the event. Having a theme provides you with a general direction for everything else from the food to the plates and cups and even the games.  The decorations are what create the atmosphere for the wedding shower. As the shower planner, you are close to the bride so you will know what her wedding colors are in addition to her likes and dislikes.

Incorporate a Hobby or Favorite Memory -If the bride-to-be is an amateur chef, center your wedding shower decorations on her love of cooking and baking. Create centerpieces or other decorations with cooking utensils and pots or pans which could then be gifted to her afterward! Use fresh herbs or unique bottles filled with flavored vinegars, oils or dried herbs as table centerpieces. As favors for the guests, you could give everyone a package of tea or a special spice mix in a mug or attached to an inexpensive kitchen gadget like a miniature whisk or grater.

Perhaps the bride often talks about her backpacking trip through Europe after college. Pick a favorite location from her itinerary and create wedding shower decorations based on the location. If Greece was her favorite, you can incorporate grape leaves and grape vines into flower centerpieces and serve specialty olives. Ireland invokes images of fairies, leprechauns and beautiful green lands. These elements would add a touch of whimsy and fun to any wedding shower.

Themeless – Technically, you can do without a theme when planning wedding shower decorations. Use traditional white or ivory paired with silver or gold along with the bridal colors. Wedding bells, tulle netting, bride figurines, streamers and other “generic” items could be incorporated into any shower. While it is not as fun as a theme, it gets the job done and probably for a lower price tag.
