Less is More with your Wedding Reception Table Decorations

When you think about it, how many wedding guests truly pay attention to the wedding reception table decorations? Sure, they are going to consider the reception décor as a whole, but for the most part, they are there to support you and have fun. With that said, splurge in other areas of the wedding like a great photographer instead and follow the edict of “less is more” when it comes to those table decorations.

Idea #1 – If you are planning to give away wedding favors to each guest, why not incorporate them into your wedding reception table decorations? For instance, if you had a Valentine’s Day wedding and planned to give away chocolate rose and heart-shaped lollipops, display them as a bouquet in inexpensive vases. Clear vases could use colored stones in the bridal colors or colored vases could use simple floral foam to hold the lollipops in place.

Idea #2 – For a “green” or eco-friendly themed wedding, you can get away with some inexpensive wedding reception table decorations. How about some interesting sticks and rocks in a clear vase with freshly picked wildflowers? You can use pinecones to hold seating placement cards. Find the clear vases at a dollar store and spend a few weekends at a nearby nature park hunting up just the right “decorations” by nature.

Idea #3 – More and more weddings are “recycling” the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets and using them as table centerpieces. The head table could use the bridal bouquet and some inexpensive greenery while other tables would have the bridesmaid bouquets. At the end of the night, the bridal attendants can take these centerpieces home.

The bridal colors and overall theme and mood of the event should dictate what type of wedding reception table decorations you use. Don’t try to keep up with brides from previous weddings. Instead, incorporate the groom’s and your interests in an inexpensive, yet thoughtful and personal way.
