Nature a Guiding Force with Garden Wedding Decorating

Gardens can be a beautiful backdrop for any wedding. Instead of fancy flower arrangements and miles of ribbon, you can count on nature’s beauty to provide at least part of the garden wedding decorating. If you are planning a wedding in your own garden and you have months of advance notice before the big day, you should research what flowers would be in bloom around your wedding date and plant them early. Flowers and greenery with a bit of growth to them can help you avoid the “new garden” look.

Consider a few well-placed planters full of your favorite flowers and greenery in your garden to supplement the lack of lush growth. In addition, an arbor area decorated with ivy or grape vines with flowers along with ribbon and tulle in the bridal colors can be quite a pretty picture and perfect as garden wedding decorations. Sprinkling fresh flower petals along the bride’s walkway to the altar area is a nice touch too.

For a late afternoon or early evening wedding, lanterns, luminaries or even clear twinkling Christmas lights are great garden wedding decorations. They would soften the garden area’s look, creating a romantic feel. Table centerpieces could incorporate votive candles, lanterns or floating candles, depending on the general theme.

Incorporate objects that normally are used in the outdoors in your wedding. A freshly painted birdhouse is a nice touch as are terra cotta pots and old-fashioned watering cans serving as vases. Placing gazing balls or statuary amidst the flowers and greenery are two garden wedding decorating ideas that have been used with success in other ceremonies.

Using the natural elements of the garden area can lead you to some great ways to supplement the look with other garden wedding decorating. Whether it is planters, large landscaping rocks or tying colored tulle around tree trunks, don’t add too many unnatural elements to the garden as they would only detract from the overall effect.
